The ZZ plant is a powerhouse in the plant world! Known for its glossy, dark green leaves and almost indestructible nature, it’s perfect for beginners or anyone who doesn’t have time for fussing. The name “Zamioculcas” is derived from a related genus, Zamia, and it’s one tough cookie.
Origin: Native to eastern Africa, particularly Kenya and Tanzania
Light: This plant is one of the most adaptable to light conditions. It will thrive in bright, indirect light but is also super tolerant of low light. Just keep it out of direct sun.
Water: ZZ plants are drought-tolerant, so only water when the soil is completely dry. It prefers less frequent watering, making it ideal for those who tend to forget. It doesn’t require humidity, so it’ll do well in any room of the house.
Caution: The ZZ plant is toxic to both pets and humans if ingested, so make sure to keep it out of reach of little ones and pets who like to chew on plants.
